DEVILDRIVER Guitarist MIKE SPREITZER Teases New Project VERONA ON VENUS

Must read

DevilDriver guitarist Mike Spreitzer has unveiled his new musical project, Verona On Venus. The band’s debut album, Popular Delusions, is set for release on January 19, with the first single, “Rodent,” dropping on December 1, paired by a music video directed by Vincent Cordero.

Spreitzer takes on vocal duties for Verona On Venus, besides handling nearly all of the instrumentation on the album himself. Drums were tracked by Spreitzer‘s former DevilDriver bandmate, Austin D’Amond.

Spreitzer drew inspiration from the industrial and goth music he grew up with for Verona On Venus. “There’s a dark and unruly side of music that has been lost,” he said. “It’s time to rediscover, reemerge, and remind people that the uncomfortable and unsettling should not be forgotten.”

“This album wasn’t so much a discovery of myself but more so a confirmation that I could go to a place within myself that was buried,” Spreitzer added. “I finally pushed myself to uncover this side of me.”

In addition to original material, Popular Delusions features a cover of Acid Bath’s “The Bones Of Baby Dolls.” Verona On Venus is sure to appeal to fans of Spreitzer‘s work with DevilDriver, as well as those who enjoy dark and industrial music.
