After 13 albums and over 30 years, Clutch has amassed an insane amount of songs. So which is vocalist Neil Fallon‘s favorite? In an interview with Revolver, Fallon names the band’s 1995 self-titled opener “Big News I” as his personal turning point with the band.

“Probably ‘Big News I,'” said Fallon. “Because I knew it was going to be received [either] very positively or very negatively. That’s usually a good move, and that’s exactly what happened.

“[At the time] our sound was very much more rooted in straight-ahead, unswung aggression, and ‘Big News I’ was a massive swing. And suddenly it became a lot easier to write lyrics.”

Clutch recently released the fourth installment of their new live album series, this time dubbed PA Tapes (Live In Nashville, 9/24/22). The album features a setlist chosen entirely by Fallon, who noted “Marathon Music Works is one of our favorite venues in the U.S. The crowds there make it easy to have a good time and we certainly did just that on September 24th.” You can check that out here.
