Filmed over a period of 20+ years by founding member of At The Drive-In and The Mars Volta, Omar & Cedric: If This Ever Gets Weird” is an exceptional look into the amazing journey of one of this generation’s most progressive, avant-garde and productive musical partnerships: Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler Zavala.

The documentary is a Cloud Hills Films production in association with Pulse Films and will be presented to the participating public for the first time at the Raindance Film Festival on October 28, 2023. It contains noteworthy footage from 100 hours of Omar‘s self-shot material, presented almost exclusively as home video footage, with Omar, Cedric, and others narrating only in voiceover.

“If this ever gets weird, promise me we’ll just stop.” When Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala started writing music as young teenagers, they could never have dreamed of the path on which it would take them. And this was no dream: over the next 35 years, the duo formed iconic rock bands including At The Drive In and The Mars Volta; and shared countless triumphs and tribulations along the way.

The release of the documentary serves as an appetizer for The Mars Volta upcoming fall tour, in support of their 2022 self-titled album, their first in a decade.
