It seems that The Halo Effect, featuring five former members of In Flames, is set to release the first song from their upcoming album before the end of the year. In a recent interview with A Swedish Fika With bassist Peter Iwers discussed the possibility of a release date for the new material.
“I believe we will be releasing one new song later this year, and one more, I think, beginning of next. And then we’ll see. I mean, the album is done. It’s recorded and done. And we’ve actually been talking about going in and starting writing new stuff. And then there’s record labels and release plans and everything that comes together that goes beyond our control. So, I’m not 100 percent sure when it will be released, but there is a new record coming, definitely.” Iwers revealed.
While we eagerly await the release, there’s also curiosity about the musical direction The Halo Effect is taking with their new songs. According to Iwers, the new album will continue in the same musical direction as the band’s debut album, Days of the Lost. However, he also emphasized that the band is not trying to repeat themselves.
“I think it’s definitely the same type of music, but as an artist, you don’t obviously wanna repeat yourself. But I guess what we did on the first one, we just went in and we took the ideas and what was written and made it into songs. And without thinking of, ‘This is gonna sound like this or that.’ And now with the second album, we know how it’s gonna sound. But I guess we kept on still doing it the same way. So there’s no real change. It’s The Halo Effect. It’s not gonna be a big change in a different direction. We’re gonna keep on trying to do what we started to do.”
Fans of In Flames earlier sound can expect to hear more of the same iconic melodies and crushing riffs on The Halo Effect‘s new album. But with the band’s newfound freedom to experiment, it’s also possible that we’ll hear some new and innovative sounds as well.
Whatever the case may be, one thing is for sure: The Halo Effect‘s new album is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated metal releases of 2024.
