Danish melodic death metal band Mercenary is back with a new single “Heart Of The Numb” featuring Matt Heafy of Trivium, and the announcement of their first new record in a decade Soundtrack For The End Times due out September 22.
“It brings a fresh take on all the trademark elements of Mercenary‘s sound: huge, soaring choruses, bone-crushing riffs, punishing drums, and stellar leads, all wrapped in a powerful production from our very own Master-of-all-trades, Mr. Martin Buus, and a crushing world-class mix from Jacob Hansen,” said Mercenary guitarist Jakob Mølbjerg.
“Mercenary for years has been ahead of the game, crafting its own special blend of metal,” added Heafy on how good Mercenary is. “When I hear Mercenary – I hear Denmark. I hear metal. You all must listen to this band.”
If you’re not familiar with Mercenary, I strongly suggest you go dig into their back catalog. The band put out seven records between 1998 and 2013, all of which offer masterfully-done melodic death metal. Everblack from 2002 is must, though I’ve always dug their 2013 effort Through Our Darkest Days.
Soundtrack For The End Times is available for pre-order here.
