DRAGONFORCE’s “Valley Of The Damned” Removed From YouTube Over Bullsh*t Copyright Strike

Must read

Well, YouTube is officially bullshit in terms of copyright.

A few days ago, Dragonforce posted that someone named Gary George claimed their upload of Dragonforce‘s 2003 song “Valley Of The Damned” was the official one and the band’s wasn’t. This led to YouTube copyright striking Dragonforce‘s upload of the song, which is really bad news for any YouTube user. The company’s policy is that if a page receives three strikes in a 90-day period, the entire page is removed.

The previously-good news was that Dragonforce had 14 days to combat the copyright strike, but sadly that time is up. YouTube has decided that Dragonforce is wrong and Gary George‘s video stays. Which I don’t think I have to explain how incredibly fucked up that is, and dangerous a precedent this sets for any artist.

“Copyright strike take down!!! Dragonforce ‘Valley of the Damned’, released in 2003, is about to be removed by YouTube today due to a copyright strike/claim by some random person. No way of disputing it on the system, no evidence or reasons given. Other bands should take note of this madness. Anyone can go and claim your song and get it deleted to waste your time! More music press needs to report this.”

Dragonforce has a brand new record coming up that hopefully won’t give YouTube a single cent of revenue. Anyway, go see Dragonforce on tour with Amaranthe, NanowaR of Steel, and Edge Of Paradise this October. Get your tickets here.
