Guns N’ Roses vocalist Axl Rose and guitarist Slash were recently in the studio listening to “new mixes.” Now according to longtime production manager Tom Mayhue in an interview prior to the band’s Paris show, Guns N’ Roses is planning on dropping a new single “any day now.”
“And I know that the band’s gonna start working on new music,” said Mayhue as transcribed by Blabbermouth. “They’ve got a bunch of stuff recorded already. So there will be new Guns N’ Roses music very soon. In fact, I think they’re trying to get a single out any day now, so you may hear something very, very soon.”
When asked what the new material would be like, Mayhue simply responded: “It sounds great. It’s a lot more kind of Appetite [For Destruction]-orientated. They had a lot of songs. When the band went in originally and recorded Appetite For Destruction, I think they recorded, like, 29 songs. So there’s a bunch of other music that was left over that didn’t make the first record. I think there’s only 11 songs on the first record.”
Here’s hoping, right? A return to form for Guns N’ Roses would be very welcome, given they’ve got a good chunk of their classic lineup back together and Chinese Democracy isn’t exactly the greatest final studio album to have out there.
The wait for new Guns N’ Roses has been long, though the band has made it known they’d like to do a brand new record. Guns N’ Roses released two Chinese Democracy outtakes – “Absurd” and “Hard Skool” – in 2021, with the proise that more are coming. The band was also spotted rehearsing what sounded like a new song at soundcheck in 2022, though that song has yet to surface.
Guns N’ Roses recently announced an expanded version of their North American tour with a handful of new dates, as well as announced openers for almost all the shows. Joining Guns N’ Roses throughout their trek will be Alice In Chains, Dirty Honey, The Warning, Carrie Underwood, and The Pretenders.
