Original Ratos de Porão bassist Jarbas “Jabá” Alves has died. Alves played for the Brazilian crossover act between 1981 and 1993, and performed on all the band’s albums between Crucificados Pelo Sistema in 1984 and RDP Vivo in 1992. We wish Alves‘ family and friends all the best at this time.
Ratos de Porão broke the news on their Instagram, saying “Descanse em paz amigo Jarbas” (translated to “Rest in peace, friend Jarbas“). Fellow Brazilian legend Max Cavalera also paid his respects to Alves, saying “Descanse em paz irmão Jaba Xoba !!! Rest in peace brother Jaba.”
