Have an absolutely amazing time. Make amazing connections. Have memorable experiences. Be inspired and motivated. That’s the goal of The Guardians Annual Retreat in Puerto Rico in April.
If you’re an entrepreneur who loves to grow both your business and your mind, make sure you block out your calendar to join The Guardians in sunny and warm Puerto Rico. A hand-selected group of like-minded individuals will be congregating to be inspired, connect, learn, and celebrate with experts and industry giants, in a spectacular setting filled with silky sands, warm ocean water, and gentle ocean breezes.
At the end of April, thirteen top speakers and thinkers, such as Gary Vaynerchuk, Natasha Graziano, and Tom McCarthy, will be hitting the stage to talk at The Guardians Annual Retreat 2022, hosted at the luxurious El Conquistador Resort in Puerto Rico. The Annual Retreat is for entrepreneurs, leaders, and philanthropists who enjoy world-class conversations around themes such as growing massive wealth, creating significant impact, and biohacking health.
The retreat is the brainchild of medical director, investor, and mentor, Dr. Thaddeus Gala. He is the founder and owner of The Guardians, a powerful entrepreneur community of industry leaders and business owners. According to their website, Guardians are “exceptional individuals. They embody the concept of ‘growing unique assets and respecting discovery.’ Guardians stand apart as members of the new wealthy. They appreciate wealth as unique assets and resources with a value greater than just money. They value relationships and harbor a deep respect for learning and discovery.” At their core, Guardians possess an entrepreneurial mindset. They are committed to expanding time freedom, wealth, and relationships for themselves and others.
The Guardians is a mastermind group like no other. It is a group of like-minded individuals who meet bi-monthly. “We build community through bi-monthly calls,” explains Gala. “We also have two-day breakout intensives throughout the year that do a deep dive on different topics. For example, we’ll do a two-day intensive on real estate, cryptocurrency, or on sales and marketing. The members can select which sub-intensives they want to go through throughout the year.”
Gala began his career as a chiropractor. He now owns four medical health clinics, as well as running The Guardians. He was first drawn to the medical profession when he was 10 years old and his mother became seriously ill. “I have pictures of me with my dad remodeling our kitchen to get ready for my mom’s wheelchair,” he reflects. “All the doctors said the same thing. They said, ‘Sorry, we don’t know what’s wrong. But whatever is going on with her, she is going to spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.’ My parents worked really hard and so for her to go from full-time working on the homestead to full-time disability was absolutely devastating for our family.” His mother is now in her seventies and requires no pain medication. She is in remission and works as a health coach. Her journey to disability and then to wellness has been an inspiration for Gala and driven a lot of the healing work he focuses on.
In addition to running a thriving medical organization, Gala is also a tax mentor for entrepreneurs. He assists business people to pay less tax and to invest the money back into their businesses. “I remember working really hard opening my first clinic. I was working 12 hour days. I had eczema and warts all over my hands because I was so stressed. My body was falling apart. I was trying to be the model practitioner to try to save people and help them with their health. In reality, I was just falling apart from the seams. I still recall the day I got a letter in the mail from my CPA telling me that I owed $250,000 in taxes. I only had $30,000 in the bank account. I called him to ask if this was possible and he responded, ‘Yeah, that’s the way it goes. Death and taxes.’ and hung up the phone,” says Gala.
The certainty with which his CPA responded reminded him of the responses doctors gave in response to his mother’s condition. He saw how wrong they were and thought the same of his CPA. Was the need to pay so much in tax such a certainty? This prompted him to investigate ways to legally reduce the taxes he was paying so that he could drive his business and those he employed forward.
Since then, Gala has devoted his life to helping people, not just to live more healthily, but to have more wealth – and in so doing live lives of impact. This is the core message of the Guardians. “The goal has always been to help improve human flourishing and to reduce suffering,” he says. “If people don’t have their health, they don’t have anything. You need your health to be able to create wealth. I see wealth as relationships, finances, freedom of time, and freedom of movement. Wealth is being able to do what you want, when you want, with who you want. Once you have your health and once you have your wealth, that allows you to go make an impact. We need to master those buckets – we need to master our health. We need to master our wealth so that we can make an impact and be there for our family, our friends, and our team. If we don’t have our health, we’re a liability. If we don’t have wealth, then we’re also a liability. And then we’re not able to make an impact in the world. We’re consuming and not creating right.”
To make the world a better place and to help others is Gala’s desired outcome; not just from the Retreat, but also his philanthropic life. “I want to be able to create more than I consume. That is the crux of empowering the individual, above the collective. Empowering the individual is first and foremost, far above the collective or above groups. It’s empowering the individual at the individual level. And so that is the heart and the crux of our mission – to help the individual on all levels.”
