Vinyl Sales Broke Yet Another Record Last Week

Must read

Vinyl sales in the U.S. hit an all time high during the week ending in December 22, with 2.232 million records being sold. The previous record was set during the week ending in December 23, 2021, where 2.115 million records were sold.

Billboard points out that this is very likely due to Christmas shopping, as vinyl sales grew 46.7% from the week prior to the week ending in December 22. Taylor Swift‘s latest release Midnights was the most popular record in that 2.232 million figure, with 68,000 units being sold. Billboard also points out that year-over-year vinyl sales from 2021 to 2022 are up roughly 3.6%. So it’s safe to say that vinyl is still very much on the rise.

Stay tuned for the week of Christmas 2023, when we probably publish this article yet again with another record broken.
